Round Island Petrel - Print

from A$30.00

A print of a medium sized seabird the Round Island Petrel, Pterodrama arminjoniana, which only visits land to breed. When flying at sea it will glide close to the water, only occasionally flapping its wings. It will take its food from near the surface of the water and has a distinctive “ki ki ki ki” breeding call. They can be found around North Keeling Island in the Indian Ocean.

This is part of a series where portraits of Australian native animals that are disappearing are explored - a tiny selection of the 10,000+ species worldwide that are extinct or facing extinction.

This artwork was originally painted with acrylic on wood by Alicia Rogerson. Her art is bold, vibrant and often inspired by nature.
