Botanical Illustration (Endpaper)
One of my favourite elements of a book are the endpapers - that is the first illustration you find when you open the book before the title page. This is the illustration that features as the endpapers for The Book of Australian Trees written by Inga Simpson, published by Lothian and illustrated by myself.
The botanical illustration features one element from every Australian tree in the book. This way I could capture their individual details whether it be nuts, seeds, leaves, bark or flowers and give strength to those elements as a group. They have merged beautifully as a collection.
It also echoes the joy and love I have for finding objects on my bush-walks.
This is an original acrylic painting on top artist quality textured watercolour paper.
This illustration features in the "The Book of Australian Trees".
Painted with acrylic on beautiful 300gsm watercolour paper. The paper is larger than A3 in size (35 x 49.8cm) and will be posted in a flat non bendable mailer. It is signed and dated and will have a certificate of authentication.
